Ohio Home Care Waiver
At Ohio Home Cares, our mission is to help you remain safe, independent, and comfortable in the place you know best—your home. Many Ohio residents qualify for the Ohio Home Care Waiver (OHCW), also called the Medicaid Waiver Program, which provides free home- and community-based services (HCBS) for individuals with physical disabilities or unstable medical conditions. Instead of moving into nursing facilities, hospitals, or rehabilitation centers, participants can receive the care they need right at home.
The Ohio Home Care Waiver helps you stay in control of your daily life, remain an active part of your community, and make important choices about your care. Services covered may include:
Personal care assistance, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
Skilled nursing visits for medical needs
Meal preparation and help with eating
Transportation to appointments or errands
Light housekeeping and laundry
Medication reminders and support
In many cases, a family member can be paid to be the caregiver, allowing your loved one to receive care from someone they know and trust.
For a full overview of participant rights, responsibilities, and person-centered care planning, you can review the official Ohio Home Care Waiver Participant’s Handbook. Additional details on eligibility and services are also outlined in the Ohio Administrative Code Rule 5160-46-02.

Our Waiver Assessment
Our Waiver Assessment is the first step in finding out if you are eligible for these benefits. By answering a few simple questions, we can learn more about your daily needs, health conditions, and current support system.
Every person’s circumstances are unique, which is why your responses are reviewed by a real person, not an automated system. After you submit your assessment, a member of our team will contact you directly to discuss your results, answer your questions, and guide you through the entire Ohio Medicaid Waiver enrollment process at no cost for qualified individuals.
